I'm a beginner accordionist and an OKish bassist for the record.
Now I'm a massive fan of power and symphonic metal, and with it I've been sketching out my own ideas for an album. I've actually got something approaching a coherent full album, and unlike a lot of times where I've attempted to write music this is actually something I'm actually really happy with, and want to bring it to life.
Problem comes when I've tried to translate the ideas I've written down on my paper and in my head onto my instrument. Even with bass, which is easily my best instrument, I find it near impossible to go from 'idea in head' to 'actual sound'. On accordion, which is the instrument I'm learning now, I'm still very much in the stages of learning technique. I also feel like I've set myself an even harder task because a lot of my album's concept is based around symphonic metal, which is known for its relative musical complexity, particularly Nightwish (which has some incredible pieces of composition).
So now I feel like I've got this brilliant idea but can't really do anything with it for lack of songwriting ability, and I'm really stuck on what to do next, short of locking myself in my room and practicing accordion for the next 10 years.
Where do I even start?
