Hey all,
I’m having an issue balancing the sub/kick and getting them punchy, full and not boomy. I can get it sound good on my monitors and headphones. It sounds great on my mates stereo and most places but as soon as I try it in the car it is really boomy and boxy. It’s just a stock stereo in a modern car on flat settings but it is noticeably too much.
I have put a few of my tracks on synthshare for feedback and I get comments on a nice punchy kick and have had to turn down the sub on a few because it was too much but even then it is still boomy in the car. If I get it not boomy in the car it sounds weak on everything else. I notch a spot for my kick to sit in the sub and side chain etc..
Any tricks to combat this without losing the power of the baseline. I want it to be present and atmospheric but not boomy.
You can check my soundcloud in my flare if you are interested in checking the balance I have.
