I've been developing a web app to compare and emulate various instruments since 2013. I've made many changes over the years, but I've been having trouble getting feedback. I'll occasionally get a recommendation for a new feature (usually in the form of "neat! does it do x?"), but I've been developing it mostly in a vacuum for the last few years due to not really knowing where to solicit feedback.
So how about here? :)
This is the DVIICE: Digital Virtual Instantaneous Instrument Comparator and Emulator. It allows you to compare note locations between various instruments and tunings, play those notes, and more.
- Harmonica, piano, guitar, and ukulele in a variety of tunings, plus a bass/treble staff
- Mouse over a note to see all locations of that note on the displayed instruments
- Click to play the note
- Play notes with the keyboard
- Multiple audio channels for simultaneous notes
- Set a level of vibrato
- Change the tone's waveform
- Bend with a pitch wheel
- Record (as text) and play back a sequence of notes, with chords and tempo changes
- Play back a subsection of recorded notes by highlighting the ones you want
It starts in compatibility mode, which is only useful for dealing with recent Chrome autoplay policy changes and touch screens, so make sure to click the button to switch to desktop mode, and use a computer with keyboard and mouse. The help page has detailed instructions on how it works and what it can do.
I'm particularly interested in whether you find it easy to use, what features you like, and what features are conspicuously absent.
