It's a common thing nowadays, seeing youngsters attending social media/marketing lessons in order to get the maximum out of their social media brand page (Facebook etc).
I don't think these youngsters know what it truly means to be an artist.
The strength of an artist lays in his own power, his independence, his free speech and his originality. A good artist has the balls and the knowledge to handle his social media and way beyond that.
Don't be fooled by companies trying to make money and push a certain group of artist in the same direction (talking to promotors and MGMT's as well). It's a popular thing nowadays, especially as EDM is now bigger than ever. They are only out on your money. If you really think the social media branding lessons are gonna be "the thing" for your career to take off; you're wrong and you seriously need to reconsider what you stand for and if you actually have the balls to be an artist or not.
Besides the fact they take your money, you gonna end up in a cycle of unlimited artists looking - and acting the same. Then you wonder why everyone is so unoriginal these days. Yet you all paid for the same (dumb) marketing class.
You can even go more in depth and simply be so independent and unique that you don't need no online page, like Kanye who doesn't need no facebook. Now what was the point again of these lessons.... ??
Right.
..It's not as important as you thought it was. And it's way cooler to be unique and add your own value to the world of art. We (artists), are the rule makes. And we break them too. We do what we want.
Don't be the boring one.
