So a common problem I have when I'm writing synths (generally mid/treble instruments) is after I've programmed their sound and assigned them to a mixer track, a lot of times there will be a certain resonance which rattles my right speaker stand. The rattling almost sounds like a less intense electric buzz saw, and it tends to exist even on simple, soft synths without any distortion on them.
I was originally thinking there was something wrong with my speaker stand, but then I realized that I experienced no rattling with any other music I listen to, only on tracks that I make. So I assumed that in order to cut out this resonance, I should just EQ the rattling out with a bandstop filter with a small Q. However I don't like doing this because then I'm throttling the EQ on every instrument, and the EQ turns into a tool to cut out resonance artifacts rather than one to lightly and precisely sculpt frequencies.
The other thing to note is I've only ever experiencd these artifacts after assigning a synth to a mixer track and it's audible in relation to other instruments playing at the same time in the playlist.
I use M Audio BX8 carbon black studio monitors and jamstand speaker stands
And help or advice would be fantastic. Thanks!
