To the people who take the time to read this:
I am a hobbyist producer who wants music production to become a substantial part of his life. I started producing years ago with the full intent of becoming a signed producer at some point in the hopes of it developing into a career. As the years have passed, that dream was slowly overtaken by working 40-50 hours a week, and losing that passion by the necessity of a paycheck. Recently, though, something sparked again. That dream, I realized, is not dead, and the passion for it has been bottled up, but growing. I’m in a very delicate situation where I need to balance work, girlfriend, life, and now production, but this is a change I’m ready to make in order to at least try for something I love. I don’t want to live in regret of not even trying.
So, edmproduction, where do I begin again? If you were to talk to your former producer self, where would you tell them to start? What videos would you watch? What resources would you pay for? What equipment is the most valuable to your collection? What techniques would you use to enhance your production efficiency? Do you have any tips on how to manage production in a busy working lifestyle? No question is a bad question.
Having these questions written down, even in a reddit post for instance, make them more real, at least to me. I know this may all sound like another post where the dream was actualized so quickly that it fleeted at the same pace, but I’ve been doing this for years now. Clearly something is there.
So with all of that said, I would love to get the ball rolling and the discussion started! I’m 25 years old, and don’t want to be another stick in the mud doing something he doesn’t love for the rest of his life, and I’m sure there are others out there just like myself who would benefit immensely from what I hope this post will become. So if you’ve got an answer for me, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am all ears.
