Let's talk about hit records! What makes a song a hit? I'm talking about those songs that blew up and no matter how many times you play it, it always sounds good and new.
Some key features:
- Simplicity.
I think it's very important for a song to be super simple. Minimal at that. Don't overload the song with synths and drums. Less is more in my opinion.
- Get straight to the point.
Have your songs progressive. Changing over time. But really get straight to the sweet spot quick in the instrumental. Have the most catchiest part play through most of the song. Make a middle section then bring the catchy part back in.
- Vocals
This is the biggest part of what makes a hit a hit for me. If production is perfect , the beat is boppin, you need a good vocalist on the track. The message of the song can be simple, but it needs to be relatable. The vocals need to actually ride the key of the song of course haha.
Anyways that's just a few of my ideas on what makes a hit a hit. There a ton of factors that come into play of making timeless songs. I think with any song that your making you have to be patient, work with it, and make it perfect.
I want to hear your opinion of what makes a song a timeless hit.
