Nobody wants to read them because they're usually boring. But it's better than wasting time turning knobs trying to figure it out through trial and error. They also will provide you with keyboard shortcuts and go into more detail than most youtube tutorials. So here is my tip I'd like to share. (These are tailored for mac users but windows users should have a similar process. Also forgive me if this is too obvious of a tip.)
Go to the website of your DAW or VST to find the online manual. Once there, press Command + P. In the bottom left click the PDF drop down box and Save as a PDF to your desktop. I created a folder for manuals. Now when you open the manual with Preview, you'll be able to edit it. So I'll highlight information I find important using the highlighter tool at the top in the toolbar. Also you can expand the Highlights & Notes section with the drop down menu on the far upper left of the window. This way you can quickly search through info you found important. The nice thing about this is that since it's on your desktop it syncs with the cloud. So if you're out and about and want to kill some time, open the new Files app if you're an iPhone user, and you can continue to read and highlight as you go. Then when you get back home it's already synced up.
