I've been searching for a one-word solo artist name for weeks, since I realized my current name was already taken by an old band + another dude just had taken it too. Didn't want to get into conflict and decided to choose something else. The thing is, it's been more than a month and I can't come up with anything.
I started trying to find something personal, related to memories, experiences, objects... I've always been fascinated by Astronomy, so yes I'm into Space and everything above and beyond our sky basically, so I started making names out of words I love (Space, Jupiter, Atmosphere, Moon, Comet..) but couldn't find anything personal. Whenever I try to connect some personal things, in my head it's just emptiness.
Some people managed to find their name extremely quickly: they used the surname they were given when kids, or a memorable expression they heard or game they played... when I try to remember things like that, nothing convincing pops out of my mind. As if I was just born yesterday and had noting to relate to. I didn't experience major events in my life, like, I could have avoided death, made a 100 feet jump into cold water or flied an F16, then make a name out of these events, but I have nothing special in mind.
I started gathering cool, small and elegant words in a big list. (This could maybe help you find something if you're struggling too)
When I pick two random words they work well together but I'd like to stick to a one-word name (two-word names sound like band names to me). The difficulty here is finding something short, meaningful and not already taken. Lots of these words are cool, but meaningless to me. They might sound extremely good but I'm not even convinced they are because they're meaningless to me, so I can't stick to any of them.
How did you come up with a name? Was it as difficult as me? How did you handle the hard brainstorming?
I have a new track ready to be released but need a new name, and also need to contact 5 channels that reposted my track and ask them to change the name and social links on their videos... what a mess.
