So, I reached out to a vocalist a while back and we mutually agreed that it would be cool if I remixed a track of his. There were no upfront fees paid to me, as I didn't expect them, because I think it was a great opportunity to remix his track and I more so initiated the conversation.
Now, here we are, the remix is finished, and we are trying to figure out the royalty splits. There is no tension, we are just simply trying to figure it out.
The one caveat is that he co-wrote the track with another writer. So what I am proposing is a 33/33/33 split. However, is that only for the composition publishing? What about the master recording? For this remix I funded the professional mixing and mastering of it. I will also be distributing it through my "label."
