Hey guys, I know this question is going to be impossible to answer without hearing my mix, but I thought I would post my scenario just in case someone can give me some general advice to go about fixing this issue. I am running into a problem where my mix sounds balanced, spacious, and clear at low volumes, I'm finally doing what everyone has told me, to mix at low volumes because it'll sound great when the mix is turned up, but the problem presents itself when I turn the mix up. The mix loses its sense of balance, spaciousness, and clarity, why is this happening? I know it is not a gain staging problem as I'm allowing 6 dB of headroom from the peaks and my rms is around -20. The spectrum analyzer shows a bit of a scooped frequency response in the mids rather than a pink noise type of slope so maybe that has something to do with it? Is this an Eq problem perhaps? If anyone has any ideas at all, let me know and I will do my best to test them, thanks in advance!
