Hey, I keep finding myself in the same situation. I've layered about 5 sounds together, sent them each to their own mixer channel, processed them individually, and then routed them to a group bus for additional processing.
If I really like how it's all come together, I want to save this group of sounds. I want to be able to perfectly replicate this sound (that I've created via layering and processing) for use in future projects. But the process of saving this is insane:
-
I have to save each instance of Sylenth/Harmor/Massive/etc. as a preset, i.e (CoolPluck1, CoolPluck2, BassPluck1, BassPluck2).
-
Then, I have to save their corresponding mixer channel states, i.e (CoolPluck1(Sylenth), Coolpluck2(Sylenth), BassPluck1(Spire), BassPluck2(Massive).
-
THEN, I have to save the mixer channel state for the group bus (Coolplucklayers).
-
Then, since all of that ^ is a nightmare to keep track of, I go into Fruity Notebook and type out the entire process. For example (CoolPluck2(Sylenth) - set volume only at 53% and pan left 19%)..........
-
.......... Then I save that Fruity Notebook page as a preset, i.e. (Coolplucklayersprocess). I now have all the information required to perfectly replicate those layered sounds in another project in a month, 6 months, 1 year, etc.
As you can see, this is absolutely insane! Am I missing something? If you come up with 7 sounds that sound awesome - you layer them and process them individually and group them etc etc., and it sounds great, how do you save that??? Is it even possible? I can't memorize 5 presets, 30 effects plugins, pan levels, volume levels, bus processing, etc...
I hope /u/coranns doesn't mind that I tag him here; I know he's quite an expert in FL Studio. Also will tag /u/seamlessr, hope you guys can help. This is a problem I've been struggling with for 3 years and has really, really hindered my progress.
Edit: TL;DR: If I have 5 layered sounds, all processed and bussed, in one project file, how can I quickly transfer that entire thing (the 5 layered sounds, the mixer channel states, the group bus channel, all the settings, etc.) to another project?
Thank you so much for reading and for any advice you might have!
