I just wanted to make a quick post and find out as to what other producers in this community think happened to the progressive/melodic house that was very dominant in the scene from 2011-2015. Producers such as Alesso, Dubvision, Vicetone, Axwell and ingosso, Otto Knows and many others a like, have gone another route and started experimenting with other genres and sounds, which is obviously normal for an artist to do after a period of time. But this has changed the scene a lot in my opinion because due to the experimentation of such artists, we now don't get the quality progressive house music we used to get from these guys, and the types of songs with uplifting drops, which would give me goosebumps all of the time. You can also tell a lot if these artists are diverting away from this genre, slowly but surely, by just looking at their tomorrowland 2016 sets. I think the only artist that is staying true to the genre is Nicky Romero. Even though the songs releases on Protocol Recordings are not what they used to be with songs such as Ghost and Hex, the label still releases some dope melodic and groovy tracks from time to time. But all in all it just saddens me a little bit to see a genre which was so powerful and uplifting go down as time goes by. Anyways feel free to comment down here and give your own opinions.
