So my issue isn't mixing all the other elements, but with mixing the kick and those elements nicely. Usually my kick is too loud and so I will get something looking like this (Sorry for the bad drawing, now when you've finished laughing...)
So the kick is way too loud to compress down with the track without severe distortion, So I sidechain the elements slightly to help the kick stand out in the mix and lower its volume. But then I end up with something like this So the side chain is taking away too much after the kick.
Sorry for the bad description but hope you understand what i'm trying to say.
