Hi all,
I'm a dance teacher and musicology major, and I just released my first educational video on YouTube:
Clave Explained - For Dancers (salsa, son, timba)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIUo3eg74ks&
My main job is dance teaching, and the music of salsa (timba & Cuban popular dance music in my case, to be more precise) is often super difficult for people. What obviously doesn't help, is that many of the topics can be very hard to explain in terms that don't require music education. I've held lectures on salsa & Cuban popular dance music for years now, and one of the most interesting things for me has always been that balance of popular language and music terminology.
I also created a companion site for the video, with some free extra materials: https://courses.timbero.fi/clave
I would love to hear any thoughts or suggestions for the future, and especially if there's any topics on clave, salsa or Cuban music in general you would like to know more about in this type of format? I plan to do more videos in the near future, but timing is tough as I'm fully employed on the dance teaching side.
