I've just read the bestseller "Ultralearning" by Scott H. Young and wanted to give a next step in my music composition skills with an ultralearning project. I've been trying to learn by myself for a few years but I think I've progressed almost nothing.
The first principle listed in the book is the concept of Metalearning: in a few words, learning how to learn the skill you want to achieve. Making a big big map for the journey that lies ahead. To do this, asking for advice from people that already have achieved your goal is recommended. That's something I've never done this whole time.
My intention with this post is looking for advice on where to start, or any useful advice from musicians that have achieved a substantial progress learning by themselves without attending to college, only through books, online mentors and courses. Maybe books I have to study, habits, websites, any resource that I could get and exploit only depending on my effort. I'd really appreciate some good advice from this community.
Thanks in advance! And thanks for reading me! I'm very excited for the journey that lies ahead. I hope that all the comments can be useful for other musicians who wants to follow this path.
