I learnt to play a musical instrument about ten years ago, but taught myself from books and patched it together. I don't have money for lessons, but I want to get better and have decided to go back and revisit the fundamentals. But different books tell you different things about what those fundamentals should include. If you were teaching someone to play an instrument, what would be the syllabus you'd suggest? (in terms of chords/scales/timing etc to learn). I realise this will vary a little depending on the instrument (deliberately left out to avoid referrals to specific books or sub reddits) and the type of music being played but some general syllabus ideas to get me started would be great. Thanks!
