Hello,
I'm new to Reddit, let me know if I'm doing something wrong. Questions like these probably get asked every week here.
As the title suggests, I'm looking to start learning a musical instrument and maybe even write(?) my own music. My MBTI is INTP-T if that helps hoho. I'm 17 with no musical experience. I'm looking to change that. I don't have a specific genre I enjoy. I like anything and everything. Piano seems like a safe choice, but lessons don't seem like they're worth it (excuse my ignorance, pianists of Reddit) because to my inexperienced self, a piano is essentially pressing keys with knowledge of music theory.
Wouldn't lessons on violin be better as I would definitely need more guidance? I also want to learn violin, but it doesn't seem very versatile. I want to be able to make music too one day, violin doesn't seem like the ideal instrument for that. I also have some concerns about my age, even though music is supposed to be for all ages.
Guitar is also another option but I'm not so sure if I want to play it. Maybe a bass guitar one day?
What do you people think? Any suggestions about other instruments? Perhaps you can change my views? Any advice? Maybe you can ask about myself to guess which instrument would suit me the best. Feel free to chime in.
