So it's been a dream of mine for a couple years to learn the fiddle and now that we're all trapped inside I figure there's no better time. But I really have no idea what I'm doing so I have a some stupid questions:
-
Am I too old? (17). Most of my friends who play instruments started when they were very young and I've heard it gets harder to learn as you get older
-
Is the fiddle (or violin technically) a bad instrument to start with? Seems more difficult than a piano for example
-
Do I need a teacher? With coronavirus that doesn't seem feasible rn so if so I'll hold off on doing anything until after the pandemic passes
-
Is being able to read sheet music important? (I can't but could probably learn)
-
Where do I even start? Like I said, I have no idea what I'm doing lol.
Sorry if these are annoying questions, mods pls feel free to remove. Thanks!
Edit: forgot one, I'm left handed, does that make playing the violin more difficult/expensive?
