Hi all,
I teach a free online class in Max 8 every Tuesday and Thursday evening on twitch! The regular meeting time is 5:30pm Pacific (6:30 Mountain, 7:30 Central, 8:30 Eastern.)
Join the class in real-time for free tonight at 5:30pm Pacific: https://www.twitch.tv/musicandtechexplained
Tonight we begin Class 3 of our topic of building a Polyphonic Additive Synthesizer.
In the first two classes, we built the tooling that allows us to load any custom waveform into our oscillator, created an ADSR envelope to control amplitude over time, and finally set everything up to be controllable via our MIDI hardware.
In Tonight's class we will expand our oscillators from one to three, expand our user interface, and learn how to use the [Poly~] object in conjunction with the [kslider] to make a dynamic polyphonic instrument that can play as many notes as we want at once!
At the end of class I will be taking questions, like always. You can ask questions about the topics covered in class today, or anything else related to music and technology. If you're struggling with a certain part of your own projects, feel free to ask me for additional insight into the challenges you're facing!
You do NOT need to be a Max expert to follow along, and the only prerequisite knowledge will be the topics covered in the first unit of this course (all of these classes are available on Twitch to watch for free.) All content can be built alongside me as I work, and by the end of the unit you'll have a fully functioning synthesizer that can also act as a template for future synthesizers!
