I've been playing the drums for about 7 years and In the earlier years I recall that I would practice for hours and hours every day after school, not really doing anything else. This was great because it caused me to develop pretty quickly. Over the past couple years I've been learning guitar and I have to admit, my rate of progress has been nowhere near as fast as my rate of progress was with the drums. And I know its because I still practice the drums a lot, which takes up time and obviously leaves me with less time for guitar. My question is, would it be detrimental to my drumming if I dialed it back a bit so that I could pursue the guitar more seriously? Does anyone who's had experience with trying to become a multi instrumentalist have any tips for me? I love music, but trying to coordinate practice sessions for each instrument (Ive also been practicing piano) feels very stressful and makes it feel like a chore. I miss the simplicity of just being a drummer... but I also really want to get better at guitar.
TLDR; How do I learn 2 or 3 instruments at once without burning myself out? Should I only focus on one for a while and then move on to the next?
