Hi all, regular commenter here on /r/LearnMusic and other music-related subreddits.
Original post here covering the software: https://www.reddit.com/r/Learnmusic/comments/e4qyzw/setting_and_following_a_practice_routine/
tl;dr: I created a free music practice tracking website you can use at www.tuneupgrade.com
More info on this update and past updates here: http://news.tuneupgrade.com/
I wanted to inform folks about updates I've made to the app and to encourage you all to keep up with your practice routines, especially as you find yourself potentially with stay at home orders or quarantines!
Sorry I didn't have a dedicated February update - I had a lot going on in my day to day life but now I find myself with a decent amount of time, as I too have a stay-at-home order in place!
Here are the updates from Feb/March:
- Tag filtering and sorting - It was getting cumbersome to manage larger song lists in the app, so I added the ability to filter by tags simply by clicking them, as well as to sort the column headings in the song list views.
- New Category Breakdown Graph - I got some requests asking for an easy at-a-glance view of how much practice was put towards each practice category in a given week. There's a new graph on the homepage that'll show you the breakdown between practicing exercises, songs you're learning, repertoire pieces, and your open practice. Even if you haven't done any practice in an area, it'll still show a label for it and indicate there's no time in that category.
- Open Jam Button - Some people just wanted to track their time with less structure, so I added an Open Jam button. Instead of having to build a routine and click through it, if you just want to noodle around or fluidly have open practice time, simply click this button to launch into an open practice routine.
- Book Selector - Especially for those on mobile who want to add multiple songs from a single book easily, you can now select a book you've already entered instead of having to key it in every time.
All of these updates have been driven based of feedback from redditors, so keep suggestions coming!
I hope all of you are staying safe and healthy during these interesting times - I know practicing daily has been instrumental for me (ha) for keeping my sanity while social distancing!
