So this is kinda hard to explain, but I have always had this problem where I don't have enough motivation to learn a song if I don't like the song enough. This is a big problem in learning any instrument and might be one of the reasons why I have already given up on learning guitar.
I have noticed that probably 95% of songs that I enjoy enough are too hard for me. Even if I had motivation to learn one, I'd give up after realizing that I'm not at the level to be able to play it. Having songs to play is important since drilling exercises all the time does get extremely boring and repetitive really fast.
I have been looking into other instruments recently, but I'm afraid this issue will cause me to give up on that instrument too. Have you had this issue and how do you deal with it? Any advice really is worth trying at this point.
I should also add that its not that I don't like playing an instrument. I have noticed that I do like playing the few songs that I have managed to learn. I don't know if this is a motivation thing or just that I just rarely enjoy the songs that would be at my skill level. This might have something to do with my taste in music, but not sure as I do listen to a large variety of music.
EDIT: Remembered that if I actually learn to play a song, the easier it is, the sooner I get bored playing it. Probably because its not challenging me anymore in the same way. But still, most songs are too challenging to even try at this point.
