Hello. I've played the violin and cello at beginner's level, and I have my basic 5-octave keyboard, also at beginner's level. I know how to read sheet music decently well, I have all the major and minor scales memorized, as well as the basic major and minor chords. I can play easy-to-medium songs by sheet music and aid from listening to the actual song, but that's about where my skills end. I also haven't played for a while...
I love video game music so much. I love it. Music can be so colorful and beautiful. If it means anything as to what I love the most, I love ALL music, but specially love stuff such as from Touhou or Persona or Shin Megami Tensei, where it's just a bunch of stuff and instruments and not just one style or genre, and just overall a bunch of cool stuff playing! I don't have a specific genre at focus, it's mostly about appreciating how all these different styles and genres can make a picture of the game, or scenario, or story, or character, or whatever it is that is meant to be portrayed through the music.
I want to give it a shot at learning by myself, specifically in the aspect of making music through software ( I only got my basic keyboard, after all...and its voices aren't that good ). And I'd also like some good recommendations of books and other sources about learning the keyboard/piano, so I can get back on track and keep playing again with a purpose. I mostly stopped because all I did was pick one song, try it for awhile, move on to the next, pretty much that, I was very slow. I don't wanna become amazing on the keyboard though, just improve in a way that can help with the idea of making general music.
I can't take keyboard lessons, nor pursue higher education as options, as I'm already gonna start university on another very different subject. But I wanna give this a shot. I don't really want to become amazing on the keyboard though,
Any advice y'all can give me? Sources? Guides?
