Hi all, this is an app I've made to get people playing recognisable tunes very quickly. Based in solfege theory it can set students up for further learning, or just be a rewarding exercise in itself.
https://scalenumbers.com/
Things you can learn with this approach:
- Movable-Do scale theory (transposition) - Recognising the tonic in a piece of music. Learning common melodic phrasings. Recognising intervals and scale degrees.
- Roman numeral/Nashville style chord progressions - Numbering the chords in the key and learning the common chord progressions of western music
- Triads and chord extension spellings - How the diatonic chords are made from the scale.
