So far my instruments of interest are-
Bass guitar (or possibly upright bass): this is one I'd really be relearning, as I did know how to play electric bass anyway and had a familiarity with the upright, although my knowledge of the instrument is now so poor that I'd really be learning from scratch in either case. But it does seem that a decent bassist around here can land a band gig very easily.
Keyboards- being a prog rock fan I've always liked the sound of keys. They're also pretty versatile and can be used for a lot of different things. Plus unlike an upright bass I'd actually be able to get it into the car.
Accordion: probably the weirdest one on this list. I adore accordion, especially classical piano accordion. However I also know that they're expensive as instruments. I'm also unsure as to whether I can really teach myself.
Recorder: I know the recorder has a reputation for being an awful kids school instrument but I've also heard some amazing playing from professional recorder players (which until recently I didn't know was a thing) and it's changed my opinion of them. I particularly like the sound of alto and bass recorders.
Which one do I pick? I'm also open to any other suggestions.
