Hi fellow musicians, I'm actually faced with a problem right now and I wondered if you had some opinions about it.
For my next track, I wanted to make a Deep House / Tech House song because I like the genre, and there's one artist that I love: Dustycloud. He recently released a track that I instantly loved ( Ride ) and I decided to make something in the same boat ( I don't know how to word this )
Anyway, I was listening to the song a lot ( about 30 times daily ), and so a good part of the ideas I got involuntarily came from this music ( the way the bassline grooves, the slow vocals composed of short phrases, the slowing down part after the buildup and before the drop, things like that which make up a lot of the identity of the track ). And now when I listen to both I feel like I actually made what feels like a copy of it, when in fact the initial goal wasn't to copy it.
I don't want to look like a robber, but I also love it so I don't want to trash the project, did it ever happen to you?
PS: If you want a private SC link to compare I could post it
