Hey guys,
I'm a big fan of trap music and also things like future house, drum and bass and bass house.
I produce mainly trap but have a really hard time to finish a song. In 4 years, I only finished two songs of which one was trap and one drum and bass.
Even though I really like trap, I often feel like it drains me emotionally. Whenever I try to produce a trap-style track, it just doesn't feel good. When I produce house music, it's so much smoother, easier, happier.
What I'm asking myself now is:
Should I switch genres or do I feel so frustrated with trap music because I don't finish anything and see no progress?
Should I think in terms of genres at all? I'm asking myself questions like "When I switch to house, should I change my artist name?" and all that stuff.
I really don't know what I should do. Should I stick to one genre? Is it my frustration with producing itself and house only feels good because it's something fresh or is there a deeper meaning behind it and house just suits me more than trap?
I always felt like trap was the "god-given" music for me and I love listening to it, but I just don't know if it's the right genre for me to produce in.
Did anyone of you make similar experiences and could help me with it?
