You are probably going to say that I'm a lunatic and honestly I wouldn't disagree with you.
So I have decided to learn music production in one week and enter this competition. Furthermore I would also need to improve my mixing skills as currently they are very basic. Clearly trying to jump to the moon but I think this could be a fun journey. Anjunabeats will select 20 entries for the next round which makes it just a little bit more achievable.
To enter this competition i would need to produce a track that fits the Anjunabeats style and include it in a DJ mix (up to a maximum of 60 minutes). The winner gets a year-long mentorship with one of the best record labels in the industry, as well as intensive guidance from Beatport’s partners, including Point Blank Music School and the Association for Electronic Music. Would be a dream come true with a huge career kickstart.
My plan is to purchase the custom sound pack that Samplestar in association with Beats in School have designed for this project. They have also teamed up with Point Blank to create a small video tutorial that is designed to help produce first trance track in the style of Anjunabeats. But obviously just one video is not enough haha. If any of you have more great tip/tricks/tutorials please share.
I have basic knowledge of Ableton but have never produced a track before. I was thinking to produce a short intro track (~2 mins long) and put it in the beginning of my mix. Intro tracks usually have just few instruments playing for a long period of time and I think it would be easier to produce. When track is finished I will record finished mix on XDJ-RX with other anjunabeats tracks. Please share your favourite anjunabeatstracks here that I could possibly later add into the mix. I was thinking of adding few tracks from other labels as well just to make it little bit more interesting. (Maybe DIM3NSION - Stampida and Gai Barone - Bus-Hill)
I was always a huge trance fan but most of the time i was following other labels such as Coldharbour, Planet Perfecto, VANDIT Records and ASOT. So for me it would be a huge learning curve trying to produce a track and a mix in Anjunabeats style.
Trance fans were always the most supportive crowd and I hope you can support me on this project. If you have anything that might help me please post it below and dont forget to share your favourite anjunabeats tracks.
