Hello,
I have been working on a song which uses the following chords:
B minor - BdropBb (power chord) - BdropA (powerchord; this concludes a descending line cliche)- D maj- E maj.
I want to know what key it's in simply because I'm not married to the chorus I've written for it and I've come across various songwriting tips that require me to know the key (as in, use chord VIIb of the key your song is in, etc etc.) However, there are no major or minor scales with B minor, D maj, and E maj (I didn't even bother looking for the line cliche because I knew it was futile. Therefore, I must ask the following questions:
- What key is my song in? It would really help to know.
- Bard and ChatGPT both suggested Dmaj as the key for my song, given the imput: "Tell me which key ha the chords B minor, E maj, and D maj." However, the chord charts say the scale Dmaj uses the chord Eminor. Could it be possible that Bard and CHatGPT are right, and you can simply use both Eminor and E maj in the key of D maj in the right context? If so, when can you do this in general?
