I am a new beginner in ukulele and guitar and I have tried playing both the guitar and ukulele separately. I am interested in playing the fingerstyle in general.
For the guitar, I had difficulty balancing the guitar on my lap and had cramp around my thighs by the end of the 30 minutes. Also, I faced difficulty to press certain chords on the guitar as my fingers could not reach the different frets easily.
I have difficulty putting my fingers on the right positions on the guitar. My fingers always end up also touching the strings above or below the string that it is supposed to be pressed on.
I am not sure if I am facing this problem because my fingers are too big or my wrist is too rigid and not flexible. Also, I am left-handed and I am not sure this is a reason for me facing the problem. It makes me feel frustrated to play the guitar. Not being able to get the chords right make me lose confidence in playing the guitar.
I had read that it can take up to 6 months to be able to play the chords on the guitar perfectly and correctly. To tell the truth, I don't think that I have that much of patience to endure for 6 months to play the chords well.
As for the ukulele, it was easy to hold the ukulele. I could also press the chords a bit more easily compared to the guitar. I feel that I will be able to learn the ukulele more easily.
I would like to seek your advice if I am better off to learn the ukulele instead of guitar.
Thank you.
