I teach a free online class in Max 8 every Tuesday and Thursday evening on twitch! The regular meeting time is 5:30pm Pacific (6:30 Mountain, 7:30 Central, 8:30 Eastern.)
Join the class in real-time for free tonight at 5:30pm Pacific: https://www.twitch.tv/musicandtechexplained
Tonight we begin Class 5 of our topic of building a Polyphonic Additive Synthesizer.
In the previous classes, we built a polyphonic 3-oscillator additive synthesizer with the ability to perform as many notes as we wanted, simultaneously. We also added in a couple of effects and created interfaces for them.
In Tonight's class we complete our synthesizer by creating presets for our users to explore! Max provides some nice objects for creating and loading presets, but there are challenges to getting everything working nicely. Tonight we'll look at all of the challenges with getting presets to work in our patch, and find solutions to each of them.
At the end of class I will be taking questions, like always. You can ask questions about the topics covered in class today, or anything else related to music and technology. If you're struggling with a certain part of your own projects, feel free to ask me for additional insight into the challenges you're facing!
You do NOT need to be a Max expert to follow along, and the only prerequisite knowledge will be the topics covered in the first unit of this course (all of these classes are available on Twitch to watch for free.) All content can be built alongside me as I work, and by the end of the unit you'll have a fully functioning synthesizer that can also act as a template for future synthesizers!
