I have been playing piano for about a year and I have every intention of continuing, but I often find myself looking at, researching or even buying other instruments. I bought a ukelele because I wanted something fun as a break from piano. At the time I was feeling frustrated/bored with piano and I wanted something less serious. But then I only played it for a week or two and have barely touched it since. I have come back to the piano with renewed motivation, however.
I also recently purchased an ocarina, which I am enjoying more than the ukelele, and I suspect will have more staying power than the ukelele did. However despite the fact that I am now regularly practicing two instruments (although with much more time on the piano) I have recently been looking into guitar. I blame a recent rewatch of Coco for this. I've also had varying degrees of interest in drums, electronic music production, singing, and flute.
I like the idea of being a multi-instrumentalist, but I don't want my piano learning to suffer as a result of my interest in other instruments. And I want to avoid another ukelele situation where I purchase an instrument that I don't really connect with. Can anyone relate? Any multi-instrumentalists out there that can speak to how they juggle all their instruments?
