Ive played piano for 10 years, and dicked around on guitar for about 3 years, but only seriously started learning it about a year ago. Now, I feel the drums calling to me, and I find myself really wanting to learn to play them. Theres a great looking electric set near me on kijiji for 200$, and I want to get it but people have told me I shouldnt dig too many wells or spread myself too thin, and instead should just focus on guitar. I think they are right to a certain extent, but I wanted to get some neutral opinions on if its a bad idea or not. Any advice is appreciated.
For reference, i have an hour i can devote to my instruments each day, i dont really play piano any more except when i feel like improvising, because im not great at that with guitar. On the weekends i can devote many more hours to my instruments, probably 1-3, or more if I have a light weekend. At the moment, my playing time isnt very efficient, and if im honest 10% is doing scales and picking excersises, 70% is dicking around and playing songs I already know, and 20% is learning new songs. Maybe if I distilled my playing sessions to be more efficient with less dicking around, I could pick up drums? Or is this wishful thinking?
Thanks!
