Recently, I've been having doubts about my identity as an artist (and on some level as a person). I feel like I try to copy the styles of artists I like and end up dissatisfied with the resulting track because "It just isn't me..."
I feel emotionally detached from my music.
So, I've decided to take a break and find out what brought me here and hopefully, this will create a style which I am happy with. I am trying to ask questions like ; Why am I motivated to make music?, What made me like music so much as a medium of art? What artists did I love as a child? Do I still love them today? What moments of these songs are memorable? (etc. etc....)
Ultimately, I want to ask if I am heading the right direction, and I want to hear your stories...did a group or artist inspire you? Did you grow up with music as a kid? Tell me! I'd be very interested in your responses.
