Ayoo
I've finally got some time on my hands once more(after finishing my bachelor); so I've come back to creating music. I've never been a fan of Dubstep or the more "generic" Techno(I cannot deny some of them are very musically gifted artists however) for I tend to get bored of it very quickly. I've been listening to music virtually my whole live, literally more than at least 5 hours a day on average. I gradually shift towards more alternative music when it comes to my taste. What I like in music mostly is that you can create very unique and characterizing tunes. I prefer combining sweet and bitter in my library, ranging from synthwave to trash to wardrums.
This is represented in the music I used to me, and want to in the future. I play keyboard, which I initially put to use making trance music with a friend(we parted because I had no time anymore, he sadly killed himself a year later - so no going back). I don't want to make trance anymore, or any form of "mainstream" electronic music(I know how painfully hipster this sounds; but I genuinely don't enjoy the music because I'm always looking for very unique sounds). Until relatively recently I found an artist called Tabacco(producer behind Black Moth Super Rainbow). I've also been a long fan of Noisia for the same reason. Their sound is very unique, unlike anything you'd hear in a normal routine.
Currently I've been working a week on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bdnI9-sNNs&feature=youtu.be
It's very minimal, unbalanced and overly distorted with a "metal"-ish lead(all of which are fully intentional). Yet I've kind of got no idea where to go with it, or whether there's anyone besides me who appreciates the sound. Back when I made trance music with my, now deceased, friend I learned alot about waveshaping(which I put to use still) and several filters which were commonly used in the genre. In the genre I've produced above I've no idea what techniques could be useful to me besides waveshaping.
Anyone got any general tips for me? Or feels like there's absolutely no use making this kind of music to begin with?
