Hey guys, just thought I'd share a quick tip that took me a long time to really internalize. --> SAMPLE CHOICE IS EVERYTHING
I always used to wonder how my favorite producers were getting crisp, clean sounds, really upfront and defined. I thought if I use this plugin or EQ this way, or get the secret mastering sauce then my stuff will sound like theirs.
Well...it turns out so much of making high-quality is sample choice. There are two important parts:
1) knowing which sounds work well together, and
2) using high quality, crystal clear and well-made samples / presets.
The first takes some time, but the second is easier. Hold yourself to a higher standard when you're choosing samples and presets. It will literally make or break your track.
I understand that this is not the "one tip" that will take your productions to the next level, but in my experience it can help tremendously if it's not something you've really put a lot of emphasis on before.
TL;DR -> Use better sounds, your tracks will sound better
