Hi there. I am looking to transition from desktop-based music production and move over to portable, as I've noticed that my workflow is a lot better when I am not confined to one place.
I'm planning on selling my current gaming rig (GTX 780, 32GB RAM, i7 4770k) as I've pretty much quit gaming for the time being.
What I am looking for in a laptop is the following:
- Slim design. Something that weighs around 1-1.5 kg
- 16 GB RAM
- 512 GB or higher SSD
- i7 Processor, preferably quad core, as I use a lot of Serum/Kontakt/Omnisphere
My projects are prone to becoming large fairly quickly, which is why I am looking to get a pretty beast machine.
My current budget is $2200
I've done a fair amount of research, but have found myself stuck between the following alternatives:
- Apple Macbook
- Asus Zenbook 3
- Dell XPS 13
- Razer Blade Stealth
Reviews tell me that MacBook is the clear winner, but I am a Windows guy and don't really like MacOS. Is it possible to use a Windows 10 system on a Macbook without any downsides? Razer Blade also feels super cool together with the Razer Core, but it has a super limited availability and is really hard to get your hands on in Europe. There's also a lot of quality control issues circulating on the web. Are there other laptops on the market that I might have missed out on? Or are these the top portable PCs today?
