hey guys, looking at using a ghost kick to sidechain a few synths in my drop. had a few questions about the ideal samples to use to get tight and clean ducking:
-
do you want to find a kick with a short waveform (aka a fat initial transient + short tail), so you can adjust precisely how the duck occurs vis attack/release settings in your compressor?
-
I've heard some folks using ghost blasts of white noise instead of a ghost kick? to my bullet above, do you really just want a sample with a sharp, short and loud transient?
-
am I completely off on all my points and is there a more ideal method for ghost kicks / sidechaining?
cheers!
