Hi there! :)
I just released a YouTube video on the types of salsa music and dance, aimed at everyone interested in the scene but who are taken aback by the amount of different terms! I also created a quick companion site for the video, with a music example of each type of salsa music we discuss on the video. This is a great step into finding the right search terms and to wrap your head around this huge topic!

If you have been listening to or playing salsa music for a longer time, you might notice some of the shortcuts and simplifications I needed to do in this video. But I also hope you understand how necessary they are so that newer people interested in salsa, so they can first find their way around all of these more general terms, before diving into the deep ends of the salsa world :)
I wanted to keep this video quite short and to-the-point, as I plan on doing a lot more videos on salsa music and dance, and this is meant to be a sort of a primer video for everyone interested these topics in general! If you have friends or students who would like to wrap their heads around some of these terms, please feel free to share the video :)
Are there some shortcuts or simplifications in the video that you don't agree with or would've done in a different way? Or was there something you found surprising? Any general feedback is also very welcome :)
