This might give you a giggle if you are a music theory expert, but I very much so am not.
I barely know any theory, just enough that allows me to play simple blues rhythm and solos with minor and major pentatonic scales.
Now I am learning a lot of rock songs and even tho I can play them from a technical aspect, I cannot implement them into my own improvisation because a lot of chords and notes played are not something I know, not 7th chords or notes outside the pentatonic and blues scale.
My question is in order to better play rock/maybe heavy metal, what is it that I should learn in order to better understand the songs and to implement the style into my own playing. Thanks :)
P.S. I'm a guitar player. Forgot to mention that.
