This is important because of 3 reasons: 1. Uni degree doesn’t count much anymore because everyone has a uni degree now. So you must set yourself apart further from everyone else 2. Competition is thick as ever; the internets global availability means that a guy from a different country can now do the same job but cheaper. This means you must have a unique set of skills that are difficult to come by and difficult to replace 3. It is very hard to be in the top 1% of a skill and its likely you never will unless you were trained from birth. What is easier is to be in the top 30% of your chosen skills and to combine them together to create an uptime skill set that cannot be found in anyone else.
This is why you must learn skills by talent stacking.
These skills can vary from things you enjoy to things will improve you in your chosen field.
There’s a specific technique called talent stacking that allows you to learn skills in such a way that will allow you to create a unique persona.
The term 'talent stack' was coined by cartoonist Scott Adams – best known as the creator of the Dilbert Cartoon series – to describe developing a variety of skills which combine to make someone a sought-after commodity.
An example I used in the video is Elon musk, who combined programming, networking, design, business and engineering to become the person he is today.
This means that you just need to be okay at each skill, and the magic happens when you put them one on top of the other.
Elon musk isn’t the greatest at any of those skills, but he is very good at all of them and that’s how a talent stack is built.
You will create a unique set of skills that will get you the life you want. This will give you your competitive advantage.
