I have been a piano player for almost 12 years and I have achieved great technique and virtuosity, which is why I would like to teach piano lessons when I finish school and go to university. However I've recently developed a strong passion for the electric bass and I've been practicing for about a month. Since I play for about 2 hours a day, I haven't really created any calluses, however the fingertip on my left index finger has become extremely hard and I have lost a great sense of touch. I removed the skin in frustration and I am waiting for it to regrow in hope that it will be softer, but I have no clue how this is going to affect my piano playing (I have stopped since I started bass and now I am afraid to start again).
Is this going to cause problems in my piano playing? Is this skin going to soften up at some point(if it grows to be hard again or becomes hard again by playing bass)? Is there any solution to this problem? Should I even worry at all?
Thanks
