Trying to play by ear on the keyboard and I hear something different everywhere I look.
I'm using a number of different things including 1) an interval training quiz app 2) skillshare videos 3) about half an hour a day of scales 4) plucking out the melody of songs I know well and trying to play along
About 4 weeks in I'm not getting noticeably better.
I've been playing tinwhistle for about 6 years and the Uillean pipes for about 2 but I don't read music, and now that I'm trying to learn the piano I'm realizing my ear for Irish trad isn't translating well.
I know alot of people use solfege, but I know for a fact my voice can't keep up with my hands, and I don't really want to train my voice before I can train my ear. Is this the only way?
Is there anything you guys have tried that makes it easier? I don't want to be Mozart, I just want to be able to pluck out the melody of my favorite songs in less than 8 hours. Chords can come later.
Thanks in advance!
