I'm trying to get back into learning an instrument. I'm sick of nursery rhymes and Ode to Joy, so I dug around to collect easy music I like from places like Mutopia and IMSLP. Problem is that most of what fits the bill is contrapuntal music for either choirs or string/wind quartets, like this).
I'm not yet comfortable enough on my instrument to play two parts at a time, so I'd like to be able to rewrite the pieces so I can play without accompaniment (choosing single voices and playing them alone has been disappointing). How do I do that or learn how to do that? (My theory is light-years ahead of my playing, which isn't saying much, but I don't know a hell of a lot about composition).
