I've been a guitarist and piano player for years but I've never really cared enough about lyrics. I would basically would never listen to the lyrics as all I wanted to hear is the melodies.
Fast forward to producing EDM, I'm finally realizing how powerful vocals can be.
Anyways I'm aware of music theory and how to maybe create a few melodies for vocals and what not.
I'm just so clueless on everything that has to do with recording and producing.
I am wanting to get a condenser mic and all of that but I really don't know how to layer vocals (properly to where they sound good) or when to layer them, what kind of balance of compression / reverb / delay if any to use. What kind of distortion or overdrive I could use for what etc etc
I have Ableton Live 9 and just got Logic Pro X.
I guess for reference the tracks that are seriously making me like vocals are anything Avicii likes to do.
Basically on how to make them sound like a finished track. I'm not sure if there is a great guide that helped you guys out or if you have your own thoughts? Thanks again.
