I’ve been stuck in this loop for months: I have melody ideas in my head, but then I tell myself, "I can't write this yet because my guitar technique sucks" or "I don't know enough chord theory."
So I go back to grinding boring scale exercises and drills, get exhausted, and end up creating nothing.
It feels like I'm forcing myself to pass a massive exam before I’m "allowed" to have fun and make music.
At what point did you guys actually start writing songs? Did you wait until you were decent at your instrument, or did you just start making messy stuff with basic chords right away?
