I've always been curious about how RDJ achieves the effect that's in many of his songs with the rolling metallic percussion sounds. They speed up, slow down, and are generally erratic.

I don't know much about drum machines but is this an actual scatter feature on some machine? I can't imagine placing every sample by hand.
