Music is preety much my whole life. When I was 11, I got really excited about an electric guitar, but I didn’t have proper guidance. I loved how it looked, but I couldn’t really play. I ended up selling it, and by 13 I got into piano. I discovered a whole new world and toned down my music taste. I used to play Beatles songs and short compositions that I liked (still do). I’ve forgotten most of it now, but I still play a little. A few years later I got into metal, but I stuck with piano for about three years. Five months ago, I bought a Roland electronic drum kit.
The guitar feels like a big decision - not just financially, but mentally too. the memories I have from it. Back then I often felt frustrated. On one hand, I want to close the loop and try learning guitar again. On the other hand, I’m not sure if I’ll really manage to learn - or at least enjoy learning a few favorite riffs. And I worry it might distract me from drums.
Taking lessons isn’t really an option right now, since I’m unemployed and there aren’t many available where I live. I’m also 20, still living with my parents, and they probably wouldn’t be happy about it - I already spent around ($1,180 USD) on the drums, and I sold the guitar before. My mom definitely wouldn’t be thrilled.
Yet I still find myself watching people play guitar, and my heart kind of aches for it.
So yeah… I’m at a crossroads. Anyone been in a similar situation? Any advice would be amazing.
