It's really frustrating, melodies are relatively easy but chords for some reason, I just don't get it. Yes I've learned the theory of major/minor, 7ths, dominant, diminished, augmented and basic chord progessionsbut every single time I compare myself to a piano tutorial or sheet music, I'm wildly inaccurate.
I can only hear two notes in a chord, the highest and the lowest, and usually there is a big difference between those two notes so I can't really guess which chord it is. Like for example on Let it be by the Beatles, I could only hear the bottom note C and the top note C, but the chord that is playing is actually a C chord 2nd inv.
It's like beating my head against a wall. That's not a skill that is going to take months, but easily several years or at least decades to even be remotely good at. Easily the most frustrating musical skill to get in my own experience.
